The pressure to be thin is not confined only to America where more and more people are being bothered by weight related problems. According to a Reader’s Digest survey in 2010, most people in eight of the sixteen countries surveyed have confirmed to have tried weight loss methods in one form or another. Among weight loss methods, however, healthy diet and physical workouts to burn excess fat are the ones mostly recommended by medical experts.

It is important to choose a workout that you will enjoy doing. As no matter how good a workout is in burning hundreds of calories, if you do not find time to follow your workout schedule, then the workout will not be effective. With workouts that you enjoy, you’ll be more inclined to keep your schedule and have more chances of getting that fit and fabulous body. Do you know that several of the fun activities that most people enjoy, such as dancing and rock climbing, are considered as workouts?

Dancing

Dancing is a favorite activity for women and also for teenagers, although their preferred type of dancing varies. Older women may prefer ballroom dancing types such as salsa and tango, while teens go with modern dancing moves. With dancing, you do not need workout equipment, just your DVD player blasting dance music. While enjoying your dancing routines, you are also burning out three hundred calories for every thirty minutes, or about six hundred calories per hour. If you’ll do this exercise every day, you will surely get fitter and slimmer in just a few weeks.

Cycling

Outdoor cycling is another fun workout activity to burn fat. We can’t all be Lance Armstrong but we can all try to be fit and healthy by biking. Aside from burning fat, biking helps to tone your buttocks and legs. It is perfect to be done every morning so that you could also get some Vitamin D from the sun while burning some calories. Try to schedule biking during weekends with your family so that you can have some recreational and bonding moments while losing weight. For every thirty minutes, you will be able to burn three hundred to six hundred calories. That would be a thousand calories for each hour spent cycling.

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is a good workout exercise not only for the heart and lungs but also for the legs, arms, and stomach. It may seem fit only for the sports-minded people, but you can also give it a try with proper training and preparation. While outdoor rock climbing is definitely more adventurous and exciting, there are gyms and sports centers that offer indoor rock climbing. Indoor rock climbing enables continuing with your workout activity even when it is raining. By doing this workout, you will be able to burn about three hundred calories for every thirty minutes.

Swimming

Swimming is a great cardio-vascular exercise that works out your whole body. You can maintain it as a regular workout routine, since you can do swimming activities no matter what the weather or the season is. During winter or during days when outdoor swimming is not possible, you can always use indoor swimming pools. You can also experiment with different strokes and routines to burn more calories. A person weighing 130 pounds will be able to burn around four hundred to seven hundred calories every hour of swimming workouts.

These workouts are not only fun but also effective ways to burn fat. At least an hour a day doing one of these workouts will surely be of great help in reducing those unwanted excess weight. You can even recommend these workouts with your friends so that you can have a workout buddy and also have some quality time while getting fitter and healthier.
